Child Protection
CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
3 sessions

This workshop is based on the unit of competency CHCPRT001 - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk from the  CHC Community Services training package.  Early childhood educators play a vital role in advocating for the protection of children and this workshop will provide the knowledge and skills required to identify and respond to suspicions of abuse. To achieve a Statement of Attainment in CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk all participants must partake in the group of 3 webinar sessions and successfully complete the required written and practical assessment tasks.

The assessment tasks are as follows:


- Completed written assignment including attached components such as copy of service policy

- Third Party Report signed by a workplace supervisor

- Practical component: Two (2) videos are required to be submitted demonstrating two role plays - report line call and responding to a disclosure. 


This workshop explores: 

- current legislation

- ethical considerations (UNICEF Rights of the Child and Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics)

- indicators of risk of harm

- documenting current concerns

- responding to a disclosure 

- mandatory reporting and early intervention programs

- interagency collaboration

Completing CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk will contribute 6 hours of Registered PD addressing 6.2.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.  A Statement of Participation will be issued on completion of the webinar.
