Food Safety Supervisor

This program is designed to ensure hygienic food handling practices and food safety are maintained in the preparation and service of food at your service. This program is ideal for the cook, Director or nominated person who is responsible for the supervision of meals for children in Long Day Care, Vacation Care or Family Day Care services.

Upgrade option - Participants who save completed a Statement of Attainment in HLTFSE001 Follow basic food safety practices can upgrade to the Food Safety Supervisor qualification by undertaking the two other units of the program. Contact ECTARC for details.


The Food Safety Supervisor consists of 3 units from the Health Training Package:


1. HLTFSE001 Follow basic food safety practices

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to comply with personal hygiene, maintain food safety, contribute to cleanliness of food handling areas and dispose of food.  This unit applies to food services workers who work under supervision and within defined guidelines.  The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.


 2. HLTFSE005 Oversee the day-to-day implementation of food safety in the workplace


This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to control and monitor food safety and respond to non-conformance as required by the food safety program. This unit applies to food services workers who implement the requirements of the food safety plan. Work is performed under supervision and within defined guidelines. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.


3. HLTFSE007 Apply and monitor food safety requirements

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to supervise the day-to-day implementation of the food safety program across the entire business, process or food handling area. This unit applies to workers who oversee and support others to implement the requirements of the food safety plan. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.


UPGRADE OPTION

Persons who have completed a Statement of Attainment in HLTFSE001 Follow basic food safety practices can upgrade to the Food Safety Supervisor
course by undertaking part of the program. Contact ECTARC for details.


TRAINING PATHWAY

Distance study - On the successful completion of your online enrolment, you will be sent a confirmation of enrolment email. A hard copy of printed paper learning materials will be posted to you in the mail and you will receive these within 10 working days. Study can commence when you receive your learning materials in the post.


ENROLMENT

Any time of year.


COMPLETION TIME

Approximately 20 hours to complete (this includes practicum hours). Unit must be completed within 12 months from date of enrolment.


PRACTICUM

Participants will require access to a service that provides food for clients for a minimum of 4 to 5 hours to complete practicum requirements.
